About Zion Lutheran School
Zion Lutheran School has been serving the families of Mayer and surrounding communities for more than 100 years.
The mission statement, “Sharing hope; teaching Christ,” reflects Zion’s beliefs that Christ is present in its ministry. It fulfills the mission by being respectfully-operated, Christ-centered, and academically strong in all it does. Teachers are trained through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod program, and have valid Minnesota state teaching licenses, staying up-to-date with educational improvements.
Teachers strive to integrate their faith and God’s Word in all aspects of the learning environment. This mission is not just present in the religion classes, but in all academics. The ministry of the school includes making disciples of all the children who come to Zion Lutheran School, so they can communicate the Gospel message of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior to everyone they meet.
An opportunity for students and faculty to share their faith is always open, and God is included in the classroom, on the playground, in chapel, on field trips, and in the lunchroom.
The small-school atmosphere at Zion allows students to receive more one-on-one attention from their teachers, thus enhancing their learning environment and meeting the needs of all the students.
Zion Lutheran offers many extracurricular opportunities, including band and piano lessons, athletics, musicals, math and/or science fairs, service projects, and much more. Fun activities are planned each year during National Lutheran Schools Week, which is Jan. 26 to Feb. 1, 2020, and has the theme, “Joy: Fully Lutheran.”
Zion offers the love of Jesus Christ to all students and families. Its goal is to touch every child that God entrusts to its care, by teaching them to carry out the love of the Savior in all they do and say, no matter what the circumstance.
